Job summary

Pertemps Warrington are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager based in Woolston (WA1, Warrington) to oversee the maintenance, servicing and repair of specialist light plant used in airfield work. The role blends hands-on mechanical tasks with coordinating workshop operations and mobile breakdown support across multiple sites.

You will ensure safety, quality and efficiency, maintain records, and lead a small team including apprentices.

Qualifications

Experience as Plant Fitter or Mechanical Engineer on light plant and specialist equipment.
Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical fault-finding abilities.
Proactive maintenance planning and leadership of workshop teams.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical faults.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance and safety checks.
Attend airfield sites to resolve breakdowns and minimise downtime.
Maintain service records, inspection reports and compliance documentation.
Source parts, manage spares and liaise with suppliers.
