Job summary

Pertemps North West and North Wales is recruiting a hands-on Workshop & Field Service Manager in Warrington to oversee maintenance, servicing and repair of specialist light plant and equipment used on airfields. You will lead shop activities, perform preventative maintenance and provide mobile breakdown support across multiple sites.

The role blends practical mechanical work with coordinating safety, quality and efficiency while minimising downtime.

Qualifications

• Experience as Plant Fitter/Field Service Engineer with light plant and specialist equipment.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Organised and proactive approach to maintenance and problem-solving.
• Ability to travel to remote or secure sites and hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical faults.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and safety checks.
• Attend airfield sites to resolve equipment breakdowns and minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports and compliance documentation.
• Source specialist parts, manage critical spares and liaise with suppliers.
• Support equipment testing, commissioning, upgrades and modifications.
• Undertake minor fabrication work and coordinate external fabrication requirements.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop and service vehicle.
• Provide technical advice, toolbox talks and basic maintenance training to staff.
• Coordinate external fitter support and supervise apprentices where required.
