Job Description:

Location: Walsall, UK

Hours of work: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:30

Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks and TCM are brands of Logisnext UK, an industrial truck manufacturer. We supply a complete range of electric, gas and diesel operated forklift trucks to our dealer network.

At Logisnext UK, we believe great work comes from people who feel supported—both in and outside of the office. That’s why we’re proud to be a family-friendly, flexible employer that values balance, wellbeing, and time off.

We’re not a “work hard, play hard” kind of place—we care more about helping our team work smart, feel valued, and live well. We actively encourage our employees to take time off to recharge, and in addition to 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, we also offer the option to buy up to 5 extra days of holiday per year.

In this pivotal role, the Workshop Engineer/Mechanic will be responsible for the comprehensive preparation, repair and refurbishment of our materials handling equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a meticulous approach to engineering tasks, ensuring that all machinery meets our high standards of safety and efficiency, as per requirements.

The Workshop Engineer will work closely with our technical team to diagnose issues and implement solutions swiftly, thereby minimizing equipment downtime and optimizing operational performance. If you are an experienced engineer looking for a rewarding role within a close knit team, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
  • To assess material handling equipment for any transport-related damage.
  • To install aftermarket components as needed, including electronic and hydraulic components, along with fitting masts and batteries.
  • To construct and configure components for material handling equipment.
  • Occasionally responsible for servicing and repairing various types of material handling equipment as necessary.
  • To identify faults and execute repairs as needed, including troubleshooting.
  • To accurately complete necessary administrative tasks, including documentation such as reports and timesheets.
  • To ensure that all work is performed according to safety protocols and completed within designated timeframes.
  • To maintain a clean and organized workspace as well as properly handled tools.
  • To carry out paint repairs, including touch-ups and respraying, which requires a foundational understanding of painting techniques.
  • Occasionally assist with logistics, including the scheduling of delivery trucks and unloading activities.
  • To perform regular inventory assessments.
  • Ability to conduct Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) of new material handling equipment.
  • Participation in ad hoc projects as required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for the Workshop Engineer position will meet the following qualifications:

  • A qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering is desirable but not essential.
  • Proven experience in a workshop or heavy engineering environment, preferably within the materials handling sector, but not essential.
  • Strong diagnostic skills with hands-on experience of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively.
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations and standards.
  • A valid UK driving licence is preferred.
  • Ability to fabricate and modify components if required

We offer a huge benefits package including but not limited to:

  • Take advantage of 25 days of holiday (which increases to 30 after 5 years with us), plus bank holidays, and the flexibility to sell back or purchase additional holiday days.
  • Join our contributory pension scheme for your future savings.
  • Benefit from our private health scheme to keep you feeling your best.
  • Rest easy with our income protection plan.
  • Stay secure with our life cover options.
  • Get fit with a subsidised gym membership.
  • Receive thorough product training along with long-term opportunities for your personal growth and development.

We’d love to hear from you! If you're interested in the Workshop Engineer position at our thriving company that provides extensive training, a fantastic work atmosphere, and a wonderful benefits package, please submit your application today!
