Job summary

Power Electrics seeks a Workshop Engineer with diesel engine experience to maintain and repair our generator fleet. You will perform routine service, on-site repairs, and major engine work across the rental fleet, while supporting yard operations and delivery tasks.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance.
• Apprenticeship completed in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong fault-finding skills and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Generator maintenance: perform routine service and upkeep on generators in the rental fleet.
• Engine repairs: carry out repairs on breakdowns on-site or off-site.
• Yard operations: load/offload equipment and operate forklift as needed.
• Delivery & collection: transport generators using company vehicles and refuel during delivery.
• On-site service & repairs: service equipment at customer sites when required.
• On-call responsibilities: participate in 24/7 rota for support.
• Maintenance & housekeeping: keep workspace clean and safe per policy.
• Health & safety compliance: follow regulations and ISO standards (9001, 45001, 14001, 50001).

Job description

As a Workshop Engineer with previous experience of working with diesel engines, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of our generator fleet.,

• Generator Maintenance
• Perform routine service, maintenance and overall upkeep on generators within the rental fleet.
• Follow manufacturers' recommended service schedules to ensure optimal performance.
• Engine Repairs
• Carry out repairs on customers' rental generators which have broken down, on and off-site as required.
• Yard Operations
• Assist with general tasks in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment.
• Operate forklift equipment as needed.
• Delivery & Collection
• Deliver and collect generators and ancillary equipment using company vehicles.
• Refuel generators as part of the delivery process when required.
• On-Site Service & Repairs
• Provide servicing and repairs for Power Electrics' equipment on-site, when necessary.
• On-Call Responsibilities
• Participate in the company's on-call rota system to ensure 24/7 support.
• Maintenance & Housekeeping
• Assist with basic maintenance tasks, including equipment cleaning, and maintain a safe, tidy work environment in line with the Company Health & Safety Policy.
• Health & Safety Compliance
• Adhere to relevant regulations and ISO standards (9001, 45001, 14001, 50001), actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives. A relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent).
• Alternatively, completion of an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent proven experience in servicing and repairing large diesel engines (e.g. Perkins, Cummins).
