Job Title: Workshop Engineer

Reporting to: Workshop Manager

Job Purpose:

To maintain, repair, service, and modify the company's current product range. Assist the Workshop Supervisor in the smooth operation of the workshop. Responsible for completing all paperwork in a timely manner. Inspect equipment for technical accuracy and aesthetics, considering customer impact. Ensure all machines are inspected/tested in line with our PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) procedure and that PDI forms are completed accurately. Responsible for testing all workshop machinery in line with current Health and Safety guidelines.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Service, maintain, overhaul, fault-find, and rectify faults on the company's products within the limits of training.
  • Refurbish/restore used or hire machines to a high standard for resale, including assessing defects, ordering parts, and carrying out repairs cost-effectively.
  • Diagnose and calibrate machines using diagnostic equipment (training and support provided).
  • Know the company's past and present product range.
  • Report all defects, especially on new or modified products.
  • Maintain company tools, manuals, and document unusual defects.
  • Practice good housekeeping.
  • Complete and submit documentation promptly.
  • Seek help or advice from line manager when needed.
  • Report machine abuse incidents by customers.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, or problems; escalate when necessary.
  • Undertake projects as assigned by your line manager.
  • Follow all safety regulations.
  • Operate professionally and ethically at all times.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Promote a professional company image.
  • Develop good customer relations.
  • Work overtime as required, with notice, during peak periods.

Essential - Minimum requirements:
Education & Training

Good Maths and English skills (min O level/GCSE Grade C or equivalent)

Skills & Experience

Excellent communication skills, highly organized, 5+ years engineering experience, knowledge of servicing petrol/LPG, diesel, electrical equipment, and diagnostic tools. Ideally trained to City and Guilds standards, with experience in cleaning equipment or related industry. Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
