Job description

Workshop Assistant

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Workshop Assistant to join a leading and growing manufacturing company based near Christchurch.

Introduction

The primary role of the Workshop Assistant will involve supporting various duties across the manufacturing site.

Responsibilities:

  1. Keeping all manufacturing areas clean, following a regular cleaning schedule.
  2. Maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of buildings and the site, including yard maintenance (hedge trimming, debris removal).
  3. Ensuring the entire site is well maintained; notifying management of repairs and general maintenance needs.
  4. Managing waste, including shop floor waste, recycling, metal swarf segregation, and hazardous waste (oil).
  5. Annually draining and cleaning slurry from machines.
  6. Operating forklifts to move goods, materials, and scrap/swarf bins within the factory and yard, including loading and storage areas.
  7. Adhering to all Health & Safety procedures and processes.

Ideal Experience:

The ideal candidate will be willing to undertake a variety of duties, be self-motivated, and proactive. Previous experience as a handyman or general site operative is preferred. Forklift experience is advantageous but not essential.

There will be some lifting and moving of stock, equipment, and materials around the site, conducted in a safe manner.

Salary:

GBP 25,762 for 25 hours per week, equating to GBP 19.82 per hour.

Hours:

25 hours per week, typically worked across 4 days (Monday to Thursday).
