Job summary

Bethell Construction Limited seeks experienced Works Managers / Site Managers to lead day-to-day delivery on major highways and civil engineering projects in the North West. You will manage on-site teams, coordinate subcontractors, ensure safety, quality and programme delivery, and maintain thorough site records.

This role requires strong leadership, organisation, and commitment to safety and client service. A Gold CSCS Card and SMSTS are essential, along with a UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Gold CSCS Card and SMSTS certification required.
• Full UK Driving Licence with clean record.
• Minimum 5 years in site supervisory or management roles.
• Experience in highways, excavation, groundworks and drainage.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise highways and civil engineering works on site.
• Ensure all works are delivered safely and in compliance with company procedures and industry regulations.
• Lead site teams and subcontractors to achieve programme, quality and productivity targets.
• Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture across all activities.
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to ensure standards are maintained.
• Maintain accurate site records, diaries, photographs and project documentation.
• Monitor site progress and report updates to Project Managers and senior management.
• Ensure plant, equipment and materials are effectively managed and utilised.
• Coordinate site logistics and maintain organised, professional and well-presented work areas.
• Support project delivery through effective planning, communication and problem solving.
• Act as a professional ambassador for Bethell when engaging with clients, stakeholders and the public.
• Promote high team morale and create a positive working environment on site.

About You

We are looking for experienced site management professionals with a background in highways and civil engineering projects who can demonstrate strong leadership, organisation and communication skills. You will be passionate about safety, quality and customer service, with the ability to motivate teams and deliver projects successfully in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

As a Works Manager / Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of construction activities on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards of quality. You will lead operational teams, coordinate
