Bethell Construction in the North West is seeking experienced Works Managers / Site Managers for highways and civil projects. You will lead on-site teams, coordinate subcontractors, ensure safety, quality and timely delivery, and liaise with Project Managers to maintain Bethell’s standard of excellence.

The role requires strong leadership, organizational and communication skills, with a focus on safety, quality and client satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Gold CSCS Card.
  • SMSTS (5-Day Site Management Safety Training Scheme).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise highways and civil engineering works on site.
  • Ensure all works are delivered safely and in compliance with company procedures and industry regulations.
  • Lead site teams and subcontractors to achieve programme, quality and productivity targets.
  • Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture across all activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Maintain accurate site records, diaries, photographs and project documentation.
  • Monitor site progress and report updates to Project Managers and senior management.
  • Ensure plant, equipment and materials are effectively managed and utilised.
  • Coordinate site logistics and maintain organised, professional and well-presented work areas.
  • Support project delivery through effective planning, communication and problem solving.
  • Act as a professional ambassador for Bethell when engaging with clients, stakeholders and the public.
  • Promote high team morale and create a positive working environment on site.

Delivering High-Quality Highways Infrastructure Across the North West

Bethell Construction is a leading civil engineering and utility services group with over 150 years of experience delivering infrastructure projects across the North West. Due to continued growth and a strong portfolio of long-term highways and infrastructure frameworks, we are looking to recruit experienced Works Managers / Site Managers to join our Construction division.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering major highways and civil engineering projects, working within a well-established business that is committed to safety, quality, innovation and the development of its people.

The Role

As a Works Manager / Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of construction activities on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards of quality.

You will lead operational teams, coordinate subcontractors, monitor project progress and ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and contractual requirements. Working closely with Project Managers and key stakeholders, you will help drive successful project delivery while maintaining Bethell's reputation for excellence.

About You

We are looking for experienced site management professionals with a background in highways and civil engineering projects who can demonstrate strong leadership, organisation and communication skills.

You will be passionate about safety, quality and customer service, with the ability to motivate teams and deliver projects successfully in a fast-paced environment.

  • Gold CSCS Card.
