Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Works Coordination Manager (Electrical) to lead the planning and coordination of power-related activities across Thames Water. This role focuses on ensuring critical maintenance, resilience improvements and outage delivery meet customer service levels and regulatory standards.

Based at Hampton Coal Wharf or Reading, the position is 36 hours per week, with a salary between £47,000 and £58,000 per year.

The Works Coordination Manager (Electrical)

This full‑time position, paying between £47,000 and £58,000 annually based on experience, ensures critical maintenance, resilience upgrades, and outage work meet service levels and regulatory standards. You will coordinate teams, align resources, and develop a data‑led approach to enhance network dependability. Strong organisational skills and electrical background knowledge are essential for prioritising tasks and liaising with stakeholders. This role suits an experienced coordinator seeking to influence infrastructure reliability within a major utility provider. Power Resilience is critical to Thames Water's ability to provide safe, reliable services to millions of customers. We are expanding our Power Resilience capability to enhance how power is planned, maintained and improved across our operations. We are looking for talented individuals to join this growing team and help build a coordinated, data‑led approach to managing Power Resilience across Thames Water.

What you’ll be doing as Works Coordination Manager:

The Works Coordination Manager will lead the planning and coordination of power related activities across Thames water, ensuring critical maintenance, resilience improvements and outage activities are delivered efficiently to meet customer service levels and regulatory requirements. As Works Coordination Manager you will be responsible for optimising Power Resilience delivery across Thames Water operational teams, mitigating potential operational conflicts and minimising disruption to capital delivery programmes. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a critical area of UK infrastructure and make a meaningful difference to customer outcomes and environmental protection. As the team grows, members will help shape future ways of working and bring their expertise to create lasting impact across Thames Water.

Base location: Hampton Coal Wharf - TW12 2ES or Reading - Kemble Court - RG2 6AD. Working pattern or hours: 36 Hours per week (Monday to Friday).

Key responsibilities:
  • Planning Team Leadership: You will provide expert leadership to the planning team, integrating Power Resilience engineering, analytics and operational delivery plans to support the Power Strategy.
  • Coordination and Planning: You will oversee all coordination and planning of power‑related field activities, ensuring alignment with SLAs, regulatory requirements and business priorities.
  • Collaboration and Integration: You will work closely with other Power Resilience colleagues to ensure plans remain aligned across engineering, maintenance, operations and delivery teams, balancing operational requirements with resilience investment priorities.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: You will liaise with internal and external teams to coordinate planned and reactive works, optimise resource allocation and minimise service disruption.
  • Performance and Compliance: You will develop, monitor and report on planning KPIs, budgets and compliance with internal policies and external standards, ensuring high‑quality planning performance and supporting continuous improvement in planning and delivery.
What you should bring to the role

Proven experience in planning/coordination within utilities, engineering or a similar regulated environment. Demonstrated team leadership and capability‑building experience. Experience collaborating across engineering, operations and contractor teams. Experience applying digital tools and analytics to enhance planning. (desirable) Further planning, coordination, technical or engineering qualifications. (desirable) The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role is: Expert knowledge of planning and coordination principles, tools and systems. (e.g., MS Project, SAP, or similar) Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Commercial awareness and ability to evaluate information from multiple sources. Excellent IT literacy, including planning and reporting software.
