Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Power Strategy Manager in Reading to set the strategic direction for the new Power Resilience team. This senior role will lead a multi-disciplinary group, shaping the power roadmap, prioritising resilience investments and driving digitisation, data analytics and reporting across operations.

• Senior management experience in utilities or a related sector with a proven track record in leading large-scale, multi-disciplinary teams and strategic programmes.
• Strong understanding of regulatory environments and compliance frameworks and ability to adapt to changing regulations as required.
• Demonstrated ability to influence at senior levels and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in driving digitisation and process improvement initiatives.
• Experience with HV/LV systems and auxiliary power systems (desirable).
• Competence in electrical engineering design or relevant industry experience with ability to interpret and develop technical documentation and standards.
• Advanced knowledge of digitisation, data management and analytics.
• Supplier and contract management.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Ability to approve prepared and reviewed documentation ready for wider approval.

• Stakeholder Engagement and Cross-Portfolio Integration: You will proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders to influence infrastructure planning, delivery of business objectives and regulatory compliance.

The Power Strategy Manager, based in Reading, sets the strategic direction for Thames Water's new Power Resilience team. This full-time role, paying between £80,000 and £90,000 annually, involves developing the multi-AMP power roadmap alongside the Head of Power. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to prioritise investment targets and drive innovation, digitisation, and reporting. The position demands strong strategic planning abilities and experience in power systems or critical infrastructure. You will shape how power is managed across operations, ensuring safe, reliable services for millions of customers. This is a senior role for someone ready to lead a coordinated, data-led approach to resilience. Power Resilience is critical to Thames Water's ability to provide safe, reliable services to millions of customers. We are expanding our Power Resilience capability to enhance how power is planned, maintained and improved across our operations. We are looking for talented individuals to join this growing team and help build a coordinated, data-led approach to managing Power Resilience across Thames Water.

What you’ll be doing as a Power Strategy Manager: The Power Strategy Manager is a critical role to set the strategic direction for the new Power Resilience team. You will work closely with critical stakeholders and the Head of Power to develop our multi-AMP Power roadmap, prioritise where we target Power Resilience investment and drive future innovation, digitisation and reporting. As Power Strategy Manager you will play a leading role in establishing Thames Water’s dedicated Power Resilience capability. You will be responsible for driving a single strategic view of Power Resilience across Thames Water operations, enabling the business to manage Power risk through interventions that reduce outages and improve system reliability. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a critical area of UK infrastructure and make a meaningful difference to customer outcomes and environmental protection. As the team grows, members will help shape future ways of working and bring their expertise to create lasting impact across Thames Water.

Base location

Base location: Location can be flexible for both London or Thames Valley (e.g., Hampton, Maple Lodge, Reading & Slough) Working pattern or hours: Hybrid - 36 Hours per week (Monday to Friday)
