We have an exciting opportunity at the AMRC Training Centre for someone with a passion to develop the next generation of engineering and manufacturing apprentices, as a workplace coach.
The AMRC Training Centre is a provider of choice for many employers and this role offers the opportunity to work with a range of employers, based both locally and nationally, and to make a contribution to addressing the skills needs in manufacturing and engineering.
We are looking for an experienced workplace coach, with a background in engineering and manufacturing, and knowledge and experience of engineering and manufacturing apprenticeships.
You will be part of a team coordinating on and off the job learning and assessment of our engineering and manufacturing advanced, higher, and degree apprentices. You will work with a number of apprentices, setting learning targets and assessments to support them to practice and develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required by the apprenticeship standard. The reviews will take place in the apprentices' workplace with employers contributing to the target setting and providing feedback on progress.
Ideally, you will hold a degree in engineering (or related) discipline, and relevant industrial experience and appropriate assessor/verifier qualifications.
The role requires a good working knowledge of engineering practice, well-developed planning and organisational skills, the ability to communicate effectively with apprentices and employers, with good questioning skills and the confidence to discuss a range of topics and issues with apprentices and employers.
You will be based at the AMRC Training Centre at Catcliffe in Rotherham. You will be visiting apprentices in employment in South Yorkshire and beyond, and so a full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential.
The University of Sheffield is a remarkable place to work. Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Their diverse backgrounds, abilities, and beliefs make Sheffield a world-class university.
We offer a fantastic range of benefits including a highly competitive annual leave entitlement (with the ability to purchase more), a generous pensions scheme, flexible working opportunities, a commitment to your development and wellbeing, a wide range of retail discounts, and much more.
