Job summary

Ian Williams Ltd is recruiting a Working Foreperson to lead a trades team on residential wet room, kitchen and bathroom fitting projects across the West Midlands, including Coventry, Warwick and Birmingham. You will work on the tools while supervising colleagues to ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard.

The role requires a proven supervisory background on social housing or similar sites, a Level 2 NVQ in a core trade, CSCS card, and a commitment to safety and continuous

Qualifications

• Experience as a Foreman/Foreperson or supervisory Multi Operative on social housing or similar sites.
• Minimum Level 2 NVQ in a core trade (carpentry, plumbing or multi-trade) — essential; wet rooms experience desirable.
• CSCS Gold Card (Skilled Worker or Supervisor) preferred.
• SSSTS qualification advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Work on the tools as part of a team completing wet room, kitchen and bathroom fitting projects, while supervising a directly employed trades team.
• Manage trade labour and team productivity each day, reporting progress to the Contracts Manager.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Working Foreperson (previously known as Foreman) to join our Capital / Planned Maintenance teamworking across the West Midlands. Typical locations include Coventry, Warwick and Birmingham, with occasional work in Leicester.

As a Working Foreperson, you will work as a skilled trade operative on residential wet room, kitchen and bathroom fitting projects. You will also oversee day-to-day site activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard possible.

The Working Foreperson Role:

• Work on the tools as part of a team completing wet room, kitchen and bathroom fitting projects, while supervising a directly employed trades team
• Manage trade labour and team productivity each day, regularly reporting progress and job completion information to the Contracts Manager
• Take responsibility for health and safety checks and reporting, including monitoring safe working practices, PPE, vans, tools and equipment
• Complete pre-work inspections and site set-ups, followed by post-inspections of completed work

What you will bring as a Working Foreperson:

• Experience as a Foreman or Foreperson, or as a Multi Operative with supervisory experience, together with a proven track record of managing social housing or similar sites
• A minimum Level 2 NVQ, or equivalent, in a core trade such as carpentry, plumbing or multi-trade — essential. Specific experience fitting wet rooms is highly desirable
• An SSSTS qualification would be advantageous, but is not essential
• A CSCS Gold Card (Skilled Worker or Supervisor) is preferred
• The ability to lead by example and motivate an experienced directly employed and subcontracted trade workforce
• Confidence using IT systems, or a willingness to learn with training and support
• A full, current UK driving licence, which is essential for the Working Foreperson role
