Job description

TALA, a digital-first women’s activewear company, has been on a rocket ship since its founding in 2019 by Entrepreneur Grace Beverley. This full-time role is the perfect opportunity for an aspiring designer to facilitate in the creative development of TALA. Working within a fast-paced start-up, your role is integral to the smooth running of our day-to-day tasks within the design and product team. You will work across all categories to assist with the design and development of existing and new ranges, supporting with fabric, trim, and graphic development. You will work closely with the entire product team, reporting to the Designer.

Tasks
  1. CAD creation and development, ensuring full accuracy and a high level of detail.
  2. Assisting with the design and development of existing active ranges and new styles and silhouettes.
  3. Conducting market and trend research for new ranges, including styles, fabrics, and trims. Creating mood boards on Illustrator for design presentations.
  4. Creating tech packs in collaboration with the Designer, ensuring they are detailed and up-to-date. Annotating CADs, adding imagery, and fabric and trim info to BOMs.
  5. Developing range overviews, keeping them updated and accurate.
  6. Assisting in preparing presentation decks, ensuring accuracy and currency.
  7. Sending tech packs, workbooks, and lab dip requests to suppliers.
  8. Supporting the Assistant Buyer with lab dip management, Pantone matching, and supplier feedback.
  9. Managing new trim requests, collaborating with the Assistant Buyer for development and approval.
  10. Assisting with new graphic development.
  11. Maintaining the fabric library, tracking fabric orders, and organizing the space.
  12. Participating in fit sessions and noting updates for CADs and tech packs.
  13. Managing the product room, keeping it organized.
  14. Preparing for design meetings by coordinating samples and documents.
  15. Taking detailed notes during meetings for accurate record-keeping.
Requirements
  1. Minimum of 3 years experience in the fashion design industry.
  2. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
  3. Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills.
  4. Ability to work across active, lifestyle, and outerwear ranges.
  5. Basic knowledge of fabrics, including sportswear fabrics.
  6. Creative with a commercial outlook.
  7. Highly organized with attention to detail.
  8. Ability to work independently under supervision.
  9. Experience in fast-paced environments.
  10. Flexible, adaptable, and proactive.
  11. Eager to learn and collaborate across teams.
