Job summary

Balfour Beatty is recruiting a Winter Maintenance Driver (Zero Hours) to keep Telford's roads safe through winter. You will operate gritters, perform safety checks, and respond to weather events as part of a dedicated team.

A standby rota with off-peak and weekend shifts is required, with flexibility for evenings, nights and early mornings. This role focuses on reliability, safety, and community service, delivering essential public works with a strong safety culture and professional

Qualifications

• Valid Class 2 driving licence (Cat C).
• Driver CPC qualification is required.
• Digital Tachograph Card is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report defects.
• Drive winter maintenance gritters along designated routes.
• Operate gritting vehicles to required standards.
• Support snow clearance activities when required.
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and right first time.
• Follow depot and fleet movement procedures.
• Report near-misses and safety observations.
• Comply with driver hours regulations and company procedures.
• Promote Zero Harm culture at all times.
• Act as a professional ambassador for Balfour Beatty within the community.
