Sulzer operates a state-of-the-art Birmingham Service Centre, specialising in winding, repair and overhaul of motors, generators and rotating equipment. You will work on a range of electrical systems, reading engineering drawings and supporting electrical/mechanical testing in a high‑quality workshop environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical instructions.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an engineering, fitting, manufacturing or repair environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions.
• Attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high‑quality work.
• A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Wire winding experience would be a distinct advantage.
• Experience working on motors, generators or other rotating equipment.
• Coil manufacturing or rewind experience.
• Electrical testing knowledge and experience.
• Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out winding, fitting and assembly activities on a range of electrical equipment.
• Manufacturing and installing coils and windings to specification.
• Stripping, inspecting and rebuilding motors, generators and associated equipment.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Supporting electrical and mechanical testing activities.
• Identifying faults and assisting with repair solutions.
• Maintaining high levels of quality, housekeeping and safety within the workshop.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and best practice across the business.
