Job summary

Sherwood Foundation School at Sherwood Manor Campus is seeking a capable department lead responsible for day-to-day management and provision within the campus. The role includes modelling best teaching practice and sustaining a 70% teaching timetable.

You will have an impact on pupil progress beyond your classes, line-manage staff, and participate in school development planning as part of the Wider Leadership Team.

Qualifications

• Take responsibility and accountability for the day-to-day management and organisation of the allocated department at Sherwood Manor Campus.
• Be an excellent classroom practitioner who models effective practice with a 70% teaching timetable.
• Have an impact on educational progress beyond your assigned pupils.
• Line manage, performance manage and appraise identified staff.
• Assist in smooth school operations, including duties with other TLR holders in the Head/Assistant Headteacher's absence.
• Contribute to the School Development Plan as part of the Wider Leadership Team.
• Manage pupil transitions to/from your department and related admissions paperwork.

Job description

This post will be based at Sherwood Manor Campus and will have responsibility for a teaching department. There is some potential flexibility in the department of responsibility, to be discussed at interview.

The main purpose of the role is to:

• Take specific responsibility and accountability for the day-to-day management and organisation of the allocated department's provision within Sherwood Manor Campus
• Be an excellent classroom practitioner who models effective practice to other teachers and staff, with a teaching timetable of 70%
• Have an impact on educational progress beyond your assigned pupils
• Line manage, performance manage and appraise identified staff
• Assist in the smooth running of the school at all times, including sharing responsibility with other TLR holders for the school in the absence of the Head of School and Assistant Headteacher
• Contribute to the development and successful implementation of the School Development Plan as part of the Wider Leadership Team
• Manage effectively the transition of pupils to, from and within your department, including home visits, nursery or pre-school visits and the review of admissions paperwork
