Careers Wales in Cardiff seeks a Translator – Welsh Language for a maternity cover contract up to 12 months. The role is full time (37 hours) with base in Wales determined on appointment and hybrid working options. Proficient Welsh skills and proven EN-WL translation experience are essential, with a salary of £30,993–£37,330.

The successful candidate will manage translation quality, oversee machine translations, and ensure bilingual content meets Welsh Language Standards across website services.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of translation from English to Welsh and Welsh to English.
• Proficient speaking, listening, reading and writing in Welsh.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver a translation service ensuring website content meets user needs.
• Oversee high-volume machine translated content and QA to retain meaning.
• Update and publish data on website services within agreed timeframes.
• Contribute to high-quality bilingual services in line with Welsh Language Standards.
