Job summary

Westgate Healthcare in Hemel Hempstead is seeking an Activities & Wellbeing Lead (Maternity Cover) to create a vibrant, person-centred activities programme for residents. The role focuses on meaningful experiences, social connections and enhancing wellbeing across the home.

This maternity cover starts mid-October 2026 for a minimum of 9 months, 40 hours per week, 8am–5pm, five days over seven with alternate weekends, and involves leading a small team and managing budgets while building links

Qualifications

• Experience in the care sector
• Creative and enthusiastic with planning/leading activities experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Passion for making a positive impact

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and delivery of a varied activities programme for residents
• Build genuine relationships with residents to tailor activities
• Organise engaging activities, events and outings
• Work with colleagues to align activities with care plans
• Lead a small team of Activities Coordinators and support their development
• Manage activity budgets and resources
• Ensure activities are well planned and delivered safely
