Job summary

Hull City Council is seeking a Welfare Rights Assistant to support the Hull Money Team in delivering high-quality welfare benefits advice and assistance to residents. You will help people navigate the benefits system, understand entitlements, and access available support through a co-ordinated approach with partner organisations.

The role focuses on early intervention, outreach, and clear information provision to improve financial resilience and wellbeing in the local community.

Qualifications

• Interview service users to understand personal and financial circumstances.
• Explain entitlement grounds and assist with claims throughout the process.
• Provide information on social security appeals and prepare submissions.
• Support benefit take-up and outreach campaigns with partner agencies.

Responsibilities

• Interview service users to identify relevant benefit entitlements.
• Explain entitlement grounds and support claims through completion of forms.
• Advise on social security appeals and prepare submissions for tribunals.
• Assist in benefit take-up and run publicity campaigns for awareness.
• Establish outreach facilities with partner organisations.
• Produce information/publicity materials on welfare rights and services.
• Collaborate with Welfare Rights Officers to ensure efficient case transfer.
• Maintain up-to-date client files and records of advice.
