Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Welfare Officer for a primary school in Barnet, Outer London. You will manage the medical room, provide first aid, triage, and support pupil welfare with the DSL, SENCO, and attendance officer.

This full-time, permanent role requires safeguarding knowledge, IHCPs, confidentiality, and strong communication. You will log welfare records in SIMS/Arbor/CPOMS and coordinate with NHS school nursing for immunizations and health checks.

Qualifications

• First Aid at Work or Paediatric First Aid certification (or willingness to complete training).
• Experience welfare, administrative or medical support in a school setting.
• Experience using SIMS, Arbor or CPOMS to log welfare records.
• Excellent communication and empathetic interpersonal skills.
• Sound knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily welfare room operations and administer first aid and medications.
• Develop IHCPs for pupils with chronic conditions.
• Maintain confidential medical records using school software.
• Act as main contact for parents on illness and health-related attendance.
• Coordinate with NHS school nursing and local authorities for immunizations.
