Job summary

TWI Certification Ltd in Cambridge is seeking a Welding Surveyor to join the Welder Certification team. The role involves witnessing WPQs, WPQRs, and delivering examinations in line with industry standards.

The ideal candidate holds CSWIP Welding Inspector certification, has welding process knowledge (TIG/MIG/MAG/SAW) and ISO/IEC standards familiarity, and is able to travel for client site assessments. Hybrid work with office/site mix, permanent contract.

Qualifications

  • Essential CSWIP Welding Inspector certification.
  • GCSEs (English, Maths and Science) at grade 4/C or above.
  • Knowledge of welding processes TIG, MIG/MAG and SAW; WPQ/WPQR standards ISO 9606/ASME IX.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting and supporting Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQs).
  • Assisting with Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQRs).
  • Delivering TWI Cert examinations in line with industry standards.
  • Visiting client sites to witness and assess welding activities.
  • Ensuring certification activities are carried out accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Job Profile

Location: Cambridge or Middlesbrough

Contract: Permanent

Office/Hybrid: Office-based 5 days per week during probation, when not undertaking client site work

Hours: Full-time

Salary: Up to £39,000 per annum + Car Allowance

About the Role

TWI Certification Ltd (TWI Cert) is looking for a motivated Welding Surveyor to join our growing team in Cambridge. Working within the Welder Certification team and reporting to the Quality Manager, you'll help deliver industry-recognised certification and examination services that support the highest standards of welding quality, safety and compliance.

About You
  • Essential: CSWIP Welding Inspector certification
  • Minimum of three GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including English, Maths and Science
  • Knowledge of welding processes such as TIG, MIG/MAG and SAW
  • Understanding of WPQ/WPQR standards, including ISO 9606 and ASME IX
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Desirable: CSWIP Senior Welding Inspector certification
  • CSWIP Welding Examiner certification
  • EWF/IIW Welding Coordinator Diploma (Specialist level), or willingness to work towards it
  • Experience in welding and/or allied technologies
  • Experience working within UKAS-accredited or similar regulated environments
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17024 and/or ISO/IEC 17020

Work Hours

36 hours per week (full time), 8.30am - 16.30pm Monday to Thursday (finishing at 16.15pm on Friday). Part-time and hybrid working available in some roles.

Travel: This position may require regular travel both in the UK and abroad.
