Job summary

TWI Certification Ltd (TWI Cert) is seeking a motivated Welding Surveyor to join our Cambridge team. You will work within the Welder Certification group, reporting to the Quality Manager, delivering industry-recognised certification and exams to uphold welding quality, safety and compliance.

The role includes WPQ/WPQR activities, client-site witnessing, examinations, and ensuring regulatory alignment. The position offers up to £39,000 p.a.

Qualifications

  • CSWIP Welding Inspector certification is essential.
  • GCSEs including English, Maths and Science.
  • Knowledge of TIG, MIG/MAG and SAW welding processes.
  • Understanding WPQ/WPQR standards, ISO 9606 and ASME IX.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQs).
  • Assist with Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQRs).
  • Deliver TWI Cert examinations per industry standards.
  • Witness and assess welding activities at client sites.

Welding Surveyor

Location: Cambridge or Middlesbrough. Contract: Permanent. Office/Hybrid: Office-based 5 days per week during probation, when not undertaking client site work. Hours: Full-time. Job Profile: Professional. Salary: Up to £39,000 per annum + Car Allowance. Reference: JR100762. Closing date: 24 September 2026. Security Requirement: Successful completion of a BPSS check is required.


Benefits: In addition to a competitive salary and car allowance, you'll be eligible for Adverse Working Conditions payments where applicable, and all reasonable business travel expenses for client site visits will be fully reimbursed.


About the Role

TWI Certification Ltd (TWI Cert) is looking for a motivated Welding Surveyor to join our growing team in Cambridge. Working within the Welder Certification team and reporting to the Quality Manager, you'll help deliver industry-recognised certification and examination services that support the highest standards of welding quality, safety and compliance.


What You'll Be Doing


  • Conducting and supporting Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQs)

  • Assisting with Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQRs)

  • Delivering TWI Cert examinations in line with industry standards

  • Visiting client sites to witness and assess welding activities

  • Ensuring certification activities are carried out accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Supporting the continued success and reputation of TWI Cert through high-quality service delivery

About You

We're looking for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working to high standards and takes pride in delivering accurate, impartial certification services.


Essential


  • CSWIP Welding Inspector certification

  • Minimum of three GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including English, Maths and Science

  • Knowledge of welding processes such as TIG, MIG/MAG and SAW

  • Understanding of WPQ/WPQR standards, including ISO 9606 and ASME IX

  • Strong communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively


Desirable


  • CSWIP Senior Welding Inspector certification

  • CSWIP Welding Examiner certification

  • EWF/IIW Welding Coordinator Diploma (Specialist level), or willingness to work towards it

  • Experience in welding and/or allied technologies

  • Experience working within UKAS-accredited or similar regulated environments

  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17024 and/or ISO/IEC 17020
