Job summary

Resource Recruitment is seeking an experienced Welding Foreman to lead hands‑on welding operations at our Dorset site, coordinating the workshop and mentoring the team. The role bridges management and welders, ensuring work is completed to schedule with a focus on quality.

The ideal candidate has MIG, MMA and TIG welding expertise, strong communication, and a proactive, collaborative approach. The position offers a permanent contract, paid overtime when available, and opportunities for career

Qualifications

  • Welding/fabricating experience is essential.
  • Formal welding qualifications are advantageous but not required.
  • Proficiency in MIG, MMA and TIG welding.
  • Strong teamwork and a can‑do attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in organising and overseeing the day‑to‑day running of the workshop.
  • Communicate with the Manager and Service Department and provide regular updates on workshop activities.
  • Ensure all materials and jobs are ready for the welders.
  • Carry out quality control checks and act as first point of escalation for the team.
  • Maintain welding tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and ensure housekeeping standards.

Welding Foreman

Job Location: Near Wyke Regis, Dorset

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £15.83 - £20.36 p/h (£35,000 - £45,000 per annum)

Overtime: Overtime when available is paid at premium rates (x 1.5 and x 2)

Hours: 42.5 hours per week, 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday

Benefits: 22 days holiday + Bank Holidays, pension scheme, regular salary reviews, career development & training plus company van

About the Role

A leading specialist engineering company that specialises in manufacturing, repairs, servicing and specialist projects both in the workshop and onsite on a wide range of large and small products and equipment is looking for an experienced all‑round welder fabricator who can not only work hands‑on but also help the workshop manager with foreman duties and mentor the team. The role involves being the link between the management team and the welders, ensuring all work is carried out correctly and on time, providing support and guidance while fulfilling welding duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in organising and overseeing the day‑to‑day running of the workshop
  • Communicate with the Manager and Service Department and provide regular updates on ongoing workshop activities
  • Ensure all materials and jobs are ready for the welders
  • Ensure all jobs are undertaken in a professional and correct manner
  • Carry out quality control checks
  • Act as the first point of escalation for any queries from the team
  • Prevent and minimise careless use of equipment and materials
  • Maintain welding tools and equipment in good working order
  • Adhere to, promote and enforce housekeeping, tidying and Health & Safety regulations and policies applicable to the role and workshop environment
  • Complete any other tasks as and when required
Required Skills & Experience
  • Previous welding/fabricating experience
  • Relevant formal qualifications or training advantageous but not essential
  • Proficient in MIG, MMA and TIG welding to a high standard
  • Positive, enthusiastic mindset with a real "can do" attitude and strong team‑work ethic
  • Level‑headed and calm, demonstrating empathy, understanding and a professional persona, setting a good example to others at all times
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong performance as a welder and able to act as a role model; maintain high standards
