Unipart in Coventry seeks a Welding Engineer to lead welding development for battery modules and electrification assemblies. You will translate specifications into WPSs and oversee weld quality testing in a high-volume setting.

The role requires hands-on experience in TIG/MIG and power beam welding and a materials joining background, with a degree in materials science or engineering. On-site, permanent with pension and wellbeing benefits.

Qualifications

• Degree in materials science, metallurgy, mechanical or manufacturing engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven welding engineering background in high-volume manufacturing.
• Experience with weld quality testing frameworks and metrology.
• Strong data-driven decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Responsabilités

• Develop, optimise and validate welding processes (TIG/MIG, power beam) from concept to production.
• Translate customer requirements into welding specifications and WPSs; support PV schedules.
• Implement weld quality controls using destructive and non-destructive testing methods.
• Develop PFMEA, control plans and DOEs to enable NPI and rapid root-cause analysis.
• Ensure welding operations comply with SHE and industry standards.
