Job summary

Camfil UK is seeking a Welder/Fabricator for our Gillingham, Kent site to join a precision manufacturing team. The role involves manual welding and fabrication to customer specifications, and reading drawings to British and international standards.

You will work with fixtures, jigs and clamps, produce First Off parts, and perform self-inspection using Vernier calipers, micrometers and height gauges to ensure quality.

Qualifications

• Reading and understanding drawings including British and international welding symbols.
• Qualification to BS EN ISO 9606-1.
• Experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Experience with 1mm–6mm thickness material.
• Knowledge of carbon and stainless steels in welding.
• Demonstrable MAG and TIG welding experience.
• Aluminium welding experience (preferable).

Responsibilities

• Manual welding and fabrication of components to customer specification.
• Read and understand drawings including British / International standards and welding symbols.
• Understand fixtures, jigs and clamps when required.
• Produce 'First Offs' to specifications.
• Self-inspection and use of measuring equipment such as Vernier calipers, micrometers and height gauges.

We are looking for a:

Welder / Fabricator at our Gillingham, Kent site

(39 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 8am to 430pm/Friday 8am to 330pm)

Whose main responsibilities are:

• Manual welding and fabrication of components to customer specification.
• To be able to read and understand drawings that will include British / International standards and welding symbols.
• Having a good understanding of fixtures, jigs and clamps when required.
• Being able to produce 'First Offs' to specifications.
• Self-Inspection and to include the use of measuring equipment such as Vernier's, Micrometres and Height Gauges.
• Working within weld specifications / procedures to minimise the risk of defective / reject parts.

Ideally the candidate must have:

• An Understanding of Welding Symbols and British / International standards.
• Qualification to BS EN ISO 9606-1
• Previous experience within a Precision Manufacturing environment.
• Worked with thicknesses from 1mm to 6mm.
• Knowledge and previous experience with carbon and stainless steels, in a welding environment.
• Demonstrable MAG / TIG Welding experience.

Preferably the candidate will have:

• Knowledge and previous experience with aluminium, in a welding environment.
• Demonstrable aluminium welding experience.
