Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator for a leading manufacturing company in the power industry. You will fabricate and weld brackets, frames and pipework, read drawings, and operate standard fabrication machinery.

Competence in MMA (stick) and MIG welding is essential, with a strong emphasis on quality and safety. You will read and interpret drawings, work to deadlines, and support continuous improvement while following ISO 9001:14001 and OHSAS 18001 guidelines.

Qualifications

• GCSEs or equivalent (Desirable).
• Apprentice trained in Fabrication/Welding.
• City & Guilds certification in fabrication/Welding.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and weld brackets, frame work and pipework with minimal drawings.
• Read drawings and fabricate/weld parts accordingly.
• Adhere to Health & Safety policy and ensure personal and team safety.
• Maintain high quality standards and complete customer documentation.
• Meet production deadlines and support continuous improvement.

Job description

A great opportunity has arisen for a welder / fabricator to join a leading manufacturing company who specialise in the power industry.

Main Duties

• To carry out all production operations in accordance with the company Health & Safety policy. Ensuring your personal safety and that of others working in your area;
• Fabricate and weld brackets, frame work and pipework using your own initiative and mostly without the convenience of a drawing;
• To read drawings and fabricate/weld parts associated with the drawing;
• Must be competent in the MMA (stick) and MIG welding processes;
• To use machinery associated with the manufacture of metal parts i.e. Guillotine, Brake press, Radial Arm Drill, hand tools, Oxygen/Acetylene cutting etc.;
• To ensure all work carried out is done to the highest standard;
• Ensure all quality control and customer specific documentation has been completed;
• Work to tight deadlines and show commitment to get the "job done";
• Carry out any reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by your direct Line Manager or the Management Team;
• Safeguard all Company assets;
• Treat all other employees and all our customers professionally and with respect;
• Always act in the best interests of any of the company, and not to carry out (or fail to carry out) any action that would bring the company into disrepute;
• Always work in a responsible manner to ensure safe working practices;
• Follow Health Safety Quality and Environmental guidelines provided by the company - currently ISO 9001:14001 and OHSAS 18001 procedures, including all future notifications;
• Proactively contribute to the company's policy of continuous improvement.

Requirements to carry out the role

• GCSEs High school or equivalent (Desirable);
• Apprentice trained in Fabrication/Welding;
• City & Guilds certification in fabrication/Welding;
• Experience of reading & understanding fabrication drawings;
• Overhead crane slinging & lifting (not essential as Training will be given);
• Any Health & Safety certification associated with the engineering industry (Desirable).
