Job summary

BAE Systems, Glasgow locations (Govan and Scotstoun), is hiring a Welder to join our defence/aerospace/security-focused team. You will weld carbon steel, stainless, and aluminium using MMA, MAG, MIG, FCAW and related processes, producing butt and fillet welds and maintaining quality.

The ideal candidate holds Modern Apprenticeship or SVQ3/City & Guilds, has ceramic-tile welding experience, and can verify welds to NDE standards while following SHE guidelines.

Qualifications

• Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers) and relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds).
• Experience in ceramic-tile welding and associated equipment.
• Ability to produce welds that meet visual and NDE examination standards.
• Skilled in welding carbon-steel materials within the 4-15 mm thickness range.
• Understanding of SHE requirements and risk-assessment principles in welding activities.
• Background in maritime, construction, manufacturing, or similar environments, including MIG aluminium welding.

Responsibilities
