Job summary

BAE Systems in Glasgow invites applications for a Pipefitter to fabricate and install shipboard pipework. You’ll read engineering drawings, select materials, weld and fit piping across copper, cuNi, carbon steel, and stainless steel, and work with other trades to keep projects on schedule.

Join our defence sector teams supporting high-profile vessels on the Clyde, with emphasis on safety, documentation, and compliant workmanship. An apprenticeship or trade papers are required.

Qualifications

• A Modern Apprenticeship or Trade Papers (SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent) is required.
• Experience in pipe manufacture and installation on major projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of SHE, COSHH and risk assessment requirements.
• Previous experience as a Pipefitter in industrial or commercial environments.

Responsibilities

• Fabricating and installing pipework systems using materials such as copper, cuNi, carbon steel and stainless steel.
• Using hand tools and mechanical equipment to cut, bend, and weld pipes.
• Installing utilities aboard ships, including sinks, showers, and toilets.
• Assembling fittings, valves, and components according to technical drawings.
• Collaborating with other trades to ensure timely project completion.
• Adhering to safety regulations and maintaining accurate work records.
