Job summary

BlueGate Consulting seeks a skilled Welder for our Luton plant to join the manufacturing team. You will weld components and sub-assemblies to coded standards, interpreting engineering drawings and welding procedures to ensure quality and on-time production.

The role operates on a double day shift pattern, with early and late shifts across Friday 06.00–12.00 and 12.00–18.00, requiring a time-served apprenticeship and a minimum of five years’ coded welding experience in an engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Time served welding apprenticeship.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a coded welder in an engineering environment.
• Ability to weld to coded standards.
• Experience with TIG (GTAW), MMA/SMAW and MAG (GMAW) welding processes.
• Ability to work with carbon and stainless steels across a range of thicknesses.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Previous experience in torch or induction brazing would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out welding of components in line with specifications, drawings and procedures.

• Monitor consumables and support stock control activities.
• Maintain rod stores and record temperature/humidity levels in line with procedures.
• Log work using ERP systems (e.g. Epicor) to maintain booking compliance.
• Meet production routing times and customer requirements.
• Maintain high standards of quality, health & safety and housekeeping (5S).
• Adhere to all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures.
• Support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.
