Job summary

Matchtech seeks experienced Welders for a major refinery shutdown at Fawley Refinery, Southampton (SO45 1TX). Start date 14/09/2026. Requires Level 3 Welding Diploma, BS EN ISO 9606-1 coded welding certification and GTAW (TIG) experience.

CCNSG Safety Passport is essential and 60 hours per week on a 10-week assignment. Role includes TIG welding on carbon steel pipework and some stainless work, reading drawings, weld maps, and ensuring quality to refinery specs; strict safety and permit-to-work

Qualifications

• Current coded welding qualifications in line with BS EN ISO 9606-1, with GTAW (TIG) experience.
• CCNSG Safety Passport.
• Ability to read and work from drawings and weld documentation.
• Refinery/shutdown site experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• GTAW (TIG) welding on 6" carbon steel pipework and related systems, plus some stainless steel work.
• Work from isometrics, drawings, weld maps and site job packs.
• Pipe preparation, fit-up checks and weld preparation.
• Produce high-quality welds to refinery and client specifications.
• Follow WPS requirements and quality procedures.
• Adhere to refinery safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.

Job description

We're recruiting experienced Welders for a major refinery shutdown at Fawley Refinery, Southampton (SO45 1TX). To be considered, you'll need a recognised Level 3 Welding Diploma, evidence of BS EN ISO 9606-1 coding certification, and proven GTAW (TIG) welding experience. A valid CCNSG Safety Passport is also essential.

Start Date: 14/09/2026.

Our Welders will work on a 10-week assignment offering 60 hours per week, competitive rates, and lodge support for non-local workers.

The Role

Working as part of a refinery shutdown / turnaround team, duties will include:

• GTAW (TIG) welding on 6\" carbon steel pipework and associated systems, plus some stainless steel work
• Working from isometrics, drawings, weld maps and site job packs
• Pipe preparation, fit-up checks and weld preparation
• Producing high-quality welds to refinery and client specifications
• Following WPS requirements and quality procedures
• Adhering to refinery safety procedures and permit-to-work systems

Requirements

• Current coded welding qualifications in line with BS EN ISO 9606-1, with proven GTAW (TIG) welding experience
• Valid CCNSG Safety Passport
• Previous industrial site experience (refinery / shutdown experience preferred)
• Ability to read and work from drawings and weld documentation
• Good safety record and reliable attendance
