Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator for a workshop-based role in Exeter. You will work on bespoke fabrication and engineering projects, performing MIG and TIG welding and reading drawings to produce high-quality components.

The role offers a permanent, full-time position with an attractive hourly rate, overtime opportunities, and ongoing training within a modern workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Welder/Fabricator in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Strong MIG welding experience.
• TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminium.
• Ability to fabricate from engineering drawings with minimal supervision.
• Experience with mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
• Coded welding experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out MIG and TIG welding to a high standard within a workshop environment.
• Fabricate, assemble and repair a wide range of steel, stainless steel and aluminium components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication specifications.
• Manufacture bespoke fabrications and modify existing components as required.
• Operate fabrication machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently.
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality and dimensional standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment in line with health and safety procedures.
• Work both independently and as part of a wider engineering team to meet production deadlines.

Job description

My client is seeking an experienced and reliable Welder / Fabricator to join their growing team. This is a workshop-based role offering the opportunity to work on a wide variety of bespoke fabrication and engineering projects across multiple industries.

The successful candidate will have strong MIG and TIG welding experience, excellent fabrication skills, and the ability to work independently from engineering drawings to produce high-quality finished products.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out MIG and TIG welding to a high standard within a workshop environment.

• A positive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• MMA (Manual Metal Arc) welding experience.
• Experience with coded welding (advantageous but not essential).
• Experience working on bespoke fabrication projects.
• Engineering or welding qualifications, or a recognised apprenticeship.
• Forklift or overhead crane experience.
