Meridian Business Support is seeking an experienced Welder skilled in MIG, TIG, and MMA for a leading global engineering company.

  • Working Monday to Thursday, 07:45 – 16:45 and Friday, 07:45 – 12:30
  • 35 days annual leave (including bank holidays)

As a Welder in our Engineered Systems Manufacturing Unit (ESMU), you will be involved in fabrication and welding of bespoke pipework products, often requiring multiple positional welds. Using your MIG, TIG, and MMA skills, you'll work on carbon and stainless-steel pipework and pressure vessels, following detailed drawings and weld procedures to deliver high-quality, customer-specific solutions.

Your responsibilities include marking out, plasma cutting, grinding, drilling, and inspecting weld quality. You'll work closely with your Team Leader but will also have the autonomy to manage your workload. Additionally, you'll uphold EHS standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.

Ideal candidates will have proven experience in MIG, TIG, and MMA welding, especially on pipework and pressure vessels made from carbon and stainless steel. You should be confident working from engineering drawings, familiar with fabrication techniques, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality and safety. A flexible, proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and a focus on health and safety are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality MIG, TIG, and MMA welds on carbon and stainless steel pipework and pressure vessels, meeting standards and specifications.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings and weld procedures.
  • Conduct marking out, plasma cutting, oxyacetylene cutting, grinding, and drilling.
  • Maintain welding quality through visual checks and reporting defects.
  • Follow Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) standards and promote safety.
  • Operate and set up shop floor machinery according to SOPs and production plans.
  • Use overhead cranes safely for material handling.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in MIG, TIG, and MMA welding.
  • Experience working with carbon and stainless steel.
  • Ability to weld pipework and pressure vessels to high standards.
  • Confidence working from engineering drawings.
  • Experience with plasma cutting, grinding, and drilling.
  • Knowledge of safe EHS practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage workload.
