Job summary

WWT is seeking a proactive veterinary professional to join the Animal Healthcare Team at Slimbridge Wetland Centre for weekend cover.

You will perform clinical diagnosis and post‑mortem examinations, assist with disease prevention, zoo licensing, wild bird care and conservation health activities, working 15 hours per week (Saturday and Sunday).

This role offers the chance to support wildlife health across the network and contribute to wetlands restoration, within a dedicated, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy veterinary environment.
• Experience with exotic species.
• Experience conducting post-mortem examinations.
• Ideally specialist knowledge of avian pathology and biology.

Responsibilities

• Clinical diagnosis and post-mortem examinations.
• Assist with disease prevention, zoo licensing, wild bird care and conservation animal health activities.
• Occasionally remotely oversee other WWT Zoos.
