Job summary

The Nelson Trust is seeking a Weekend Recovery Support Worker for our residential women's service in Stroud. You will help maintain a calm, supportive environment across weekend hours and assist with recovery-focused activities and practical needs.

We are looking for a reliable, independent worker with a calm demeanor, strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to helping clients recover from addiction and trauma in a safe, structured setting.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence and willingness to transport clients when required.
• Ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
• Understanding of addiction, trauma or working with adversity.
• Calm, steady approach and thoughtful response to challenges.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn and develop.

Responsibilities

• Being a consistent and reassuring presence to clients during weekend hours.
• Encouraging engagement in weekend activities and recovery-focused work.
• Supporting wellbeing and practical tasks such as appointments and medication.
• Facilitating check-ins, house meetings and reflective work to support recovery.
• Responding calmly to challenges to maintain a safe, respectful environment.
