Job summary

Castle Village in Berkhamsted, operated by Retirement Villages Group, is seeking a Chef to join our kitchen team on a part-time basis. The role involves preparing meals, food presentation, following recipes, and contributing to menu planning while ensuring high standards of hygiene and resident satisfaction.

Weekend and evening shifts are required; benefits include Medicash, pension, 25 days leave pro rata, birthday leave and volunteering days.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Chef or in a similar kitchen role.
• Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for older people would be an advantage.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A team player with a passion for delivering exceptional food and service.
• Flexibility to work weekends and evening shifts as part of the rota.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of high quality meals, following established recipes and portion controls.
• Support the smooth running of the kitchen, supervising the team when required and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
• Contribute to menu planning and development, taking into account the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
• Help maintain stock levels and minimise food waste while supporting food cost control.
• Deliver a positive and professional service to residents, visitors, and colleagues.
