Job summary

Retirement Villages Group Ltd at Castle Village in Berkhamsted is seeking a part-time Chef to join our kitchen team. This role involves 19 hours per week with shifts on Friday 3:00pm–9:00pm, Saturday 9:00am–3:00pm, and Sunday 8:00am–3:00pm.

You will work with the Head Chef and culinary team to prepare, cook and present high-quality meals for residents and guests, emphasising nutrition, food safety and excellent service. Prioritise taste, variety and portion control to meet dietary needs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Chef in a kitchen environment.
• Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for older people is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Flexible to work weekends and evening shifts as part of rota.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of high quality meals, following established recipes and portion controls.
• Support the smooth running of the kitchen, supervising the team when required and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
• Contribute to menu planning and development, taking into account the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
• Help maintain stock levels and minimise food waste while supporting food cost control.
• Deliver a positive and professional service to residents, visitors, and colleagues.
