Job summary

Sodexo Group is recruiting a Cook for the National Probation Service at Burdett Lodge, Derby. This essential lone-working role involves preparing and cooking meals for residents and staff in a fixed location, ensuring safe, nutritious, and welcoming environments.

You will oversee all aspects of food production on site, working independently to deliver meals that meet residents’ needs, with opportunities to gain experience in a residential setting supporting individuals facing complex challenges.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a cooking or catering role is essential, along with a reasonable knowledge of food safety and kitchen procedures.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time and tasks efficiently while working alone.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepare and cook a variety of meals according to scheduled menus for residents and staff.
• Manage your own schedule and kitchen operations, ensuring meals are prepared and served on time with minimal supervision.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene in all areas, including the kitchen and dining spaces.
• Restock essential kitchen supplies like ingredients, utensils, and cleaning products.
• Communicate with site staff and other departments as needed, providing updates and ensuring smooth operations.
• Adhere to health and safety protocols at all times, ensuring compliance while working alone.
