Job summary

Cygnet Healthcare in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Cook to join Willow House, a specialist residential service. Working 16 hours across Saturdays and Sundays, you will prepare nutritious meals, liaise with nursing staff on dietary needs, and uphold the kitchen's cleanliness and hygiene standards.

You'll supervise kitchen staff when needed and help maintain high care standards in a supportive team. A DBS check is required; the role offers career progression, supervision, and employee

Qualifications

• Skilled chef with experience in care sector.
• Holds a basic food hygiene certificate.
• Polite, professional, with good communication.
• Ability to work on own initiative and in a team.
• Liaise with nursing staff to meet dietary needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals for patients, staff and visitors.
• Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet dietary needs.
• Ensure the kitchen and dining areas are clean.
• Supervise kitchen staff when deputising for Head Chef.
• Maintain personal hygiene and comply with food hygiene regulations.
• Handle and store kitchen equipment per procedures and COSHH rules.

Cygnet Healthcare is looking for an experienced Cookto join our team working at Cygnet Willow House.

You'll be working 16 hours a week, Saturday and Sunday, making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Cygnet Willow House.

Willow House is a specialist residential service with nursing for adults with learning disabilities complex needs and behaviours that may challenge.

Your Day-to-Day...

• Prepare, cook & serve nutritional, balanced and appetising meals for patients, staff & visitors
• Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients' nutritional & dietary needs
• Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas & dining room
• Supervise kitchen staff when deputising for the Head Chef
• Maintain personal hygiene to comply with Cygnet standards and food hygiene regulations
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.

You are...

• A skilled chef, preferably with experience in the care sector
• The holder of a basic food hygiene certificate, with good personal hygiene standards
• Polite & professional, with a positive attitude to internal & external quests at all times
• An excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels
• Able to work on your own initiative, as part of a team & under supervision
