Job summary

St Marylebone Parish Church is seeking a Weekend Buildings Assistant & Verger to maintain welcoming, safe, and well‑presented church facilities. The role involves opening/closing, supervising events, assisting with room setups, and coordinating with contractors.

You will also support worship services and provide a friendly customer‑facing presence in a historic setting. The role requires good English, reliability, teamwork, and practical maintenance abilities, with safeguarding procedures in

Qualifications

• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Experience with front‑of‑house or church-based services considered a plus.
• Ability to work in a busy environment and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the church and facilities.
• Welcome visitors and attendees and respond to enquiries.
• Carry out regular safety and cleanliness checks of the building.
• Assist with room setups for services, meetings, concerts and events.
• Coordinate with contractors and service providers on site.
• Operate lighting and sound equipment for worship and events.
• Support safeguarding and DBS processes as required.
