Job summary

Virgin Active is seeking a Web Engineer to join the Digital & Technology Transformation Team in London. You will build and maintain modern web apps using TypeScript, React, Next.js and related technologies, contributing to a scalable multi-market web platform.

Collaborating with product managers and designers, you will help evolve the design system, integrate APIs, and uphold engineering best practices, CI/CD, and testing in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience building modern web applications in production environments.
• Experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js and Storybook.
• Experience designing scalable, maintainable architectures and component-driven applications.
• Knowledge of APIs, integrations, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and release management.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain modern web applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript and related technologies.
• Develop reusable components and patterns for a scalable design system.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to translate ideas into robust solutions.
• Support API integrations, orchestration layers and shared platform services.
• Champion engineering best practices, automated testing and code quality.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and release processes for frequent deployments.
• Help shape engineering standards and ways of working in a growing team.
