Virgin Active is seeking a Web Engineer to join the Digital & Technology Transformation Team in London. You will build and maintain modern web apps using TypeScript, React, Next.js and related technologies, contributing to a scalable multi-market web platform.

Collaborating with product managers and designers, you will help evolve the design system, integrate APIs, and uphold engineering best practices, CI/CD, and testing in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience building modern web applications in production environments.
• Experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js and Storybook.
• Experience designing scalable, maintainable architectures and component-driven applications.
• Knowledge of APIs, integrations, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and release management.

The Role

• Building and maintaining modern web applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and related technologies.

Who We're Looking For

• Strong commercial experience building modern web applications in production environments.
• Expertise in TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Storybook.
• Experience designing scalable, maintainable architectures and component-driven applications.
• Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.
• Knowledge of web performance, accessibility, and SEO best practices.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• A pragmatic approach to balancing quality, delivery speed, and long-term maintainability.
• Experience with headless CMS platforms (nice to have).
• Exposure to design systems and multi-market digital platforms (nice to have).
• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline (nice to have).
