Job summary

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water in Conwy, Wales, is looking for an experienced Engineer to lead a portfolio of capital projects across water and wastewater assets. The role requires delivering planned programmes on time and within defined costs, with NEC-based contract management and strong safety controls.

You will collaborate with design, estates, and operations teams, ensure compliance with CDM regulations, and drive continuous improvement in project delivery and contractor performance.

Qualifications

• Engineering background with minimum HNC level.
• Experience in testing and commissioning automated systems.
• Knowledge of NEC Contracts and site supervision roles.
• Understanding of Health and Safety legislation including CDM (IOSH).
• Strong customer focus and ability to manage costs.
• Excellent communication and ability to meet deadlines.
• Extensive knowledge of the water and wastewater industry.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate capital projects to deliver on time within target costs.
• Monitor delivery and manage slippage with NEC-based contracts.
• Ensure Works Information clarity and contractor compliance.
• Apply health and safety controls and CDM requirements.
• Collaborate with design, estates, and operations teams.
• Deliver planned work while remaining responsive to urgent risks.
• Support Project Manager with programme management and compensation events.
• Liaise with design engineers for feedback on constructability.
• Coordinate with operations to deliver reactive schemes when needed.
• Ensure Welsh Water procedures and procurement processes are followed.
• Provide timely project records and handover documentation.
• Identify best practices and contribute to lessons learnt.
