Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Civil Site Engineer to support the safe, efficient delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will set out and survey works, supervise subcontractors, and maintain records to ensure quality and progress.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering qualification (Degree/HNC/HND), site-based experience, and familiarity with NEC contracts, SMSTS/SSSTS, and digital QA tools. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in site-based civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Understanding of setting out and surveying techniques.
• Knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements within construction.
• Experience within the water sector.
• Working knowledge of NEC contracts.
• SMSTS, SSSTS or an equivalent site safety qualification.
• Experience using digital construction tools and quality assurance systems.
• Membership of ICE or another relevant professional institution.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and surveying civil engineering works in accordance with project specifications.
• Supervising subcontractors and site operatives to support safe and efficient delivery.
• Completing quality inspections, inspection and test plans, and associated records.
• Producing and maintaining accurate site documentation, progress reports and site records.
• Supporting programme delivery, short‑term planning and the coordination of daily site activities.
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Identifying and resolving technical issues on site, escalating matters where appropriate.
• Working collaboratively with construction, commercial, quality, design and client teams.
