The Chesterfield County Department of Utilities is seeking a dedicated Utility Worker to join a meter repair and maintenance crew in the Operations and Maintenance section. You'll assist in maintaining and repairing the county’s underground water distribution system, wearing PPE and following safety rules.

Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Overtime, on-call duties, and potential cross-training for more versatility are common.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; one year of maintenance-related experience preferred.
• Some computer skills are preferred; good communication and customer relations skills required.
• Heavy lifting is required; ability to perform maintenance tasks using hand tools (shovels, picks, tampers, pavement breakers).

Responsabilités

• Maintain and repair the county's underground water distribution system.
• Repair, replace, and install water service lines and water meters and related components.
• Respond to customer concerns regarding water service; complete service requests and work orders.
