Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Systems Optimisation Engineer to manage hydraulic system operations across London, serving hundreds of thousands of properties. You will bring technical expertise to engineering and customer-led projects.

You’ll lead on unplanned emergencies to mitigate customer impact, write risk assessments, monitor pressure-managed areas and formulate operating strategies with the control centre.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of hydraulic principles and potable water systems.
• Experience with regulatory measures relating to customer satisfaction, leakage, water quality, and interruptions.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities when liaising with stakeholders.
• Willingness to learn and progress within Thames Water.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical input into engineering and customer-led projects.
• Act as technical system operations lead during unplanned emergencies to mitigate customer impact.
• Write and assess risk assessments for the clean water hydraulic system.
• Support monitoring of pressure-managed areas and management of information.
• Formulate operating strategies with the operational control centre.
• Design and update line schematics of water pressure zones and hydraulic systems.
• Assess and approve new connections or development requests from customers.
