Job summary

Thames Water is looking for a Systems Optimisation Engineer to operate within a busy, high-profile team, delivering hydraulic system expertise for a large potable water network. The role covers London and Ashford Common, with travel to other sites as needed, and involves coordinating with multiple stakeholders across the business.

You will lead technical input on projects, manage emergency responses, assess risk, and help maintain service quality and regulatory targets.

Qualifications

• Experience and in-depth knowledge of hydraulic principles.
• Understanding of Water Industry regulatory measures relating to customer satisfaction, leakage, water quality, and interruptions.
• Strong communication and leadership skills when engaging with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical input into engineering and customer-led projects.
• Act as technical system operations lead during unplanned emergencies to mitigate impact on customers.
• Write and assess risk assessments affecting the clean water hydraulic system.
• Support monitoring of pressure-managed areas and management of information.
• Formulate operating strategies with the operational control centre.
• Design and update line schematics of water pressure zones and hydraulic systems.
• Assess and approve new connections or development requests from customers.
