Job summary

The Environment Agency is seeking a Water Resources Planning Officer to join the Water Resources Planning team in delivering statutory water resources plans for water companies.

You will lead on assessing Water Resources Management Plans and drought plans, provide timely regulatory advice, and support policy development while engaging wide-ranging internal and external stakeholders. Some travel and an EA office base location apply.

Qualifications

  • Worked within Water Resources or a relevant field.
  • Experience with water resources planning concepts (WRMP, drought plans).
  • Understanding challenges facing water companies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with diverse audiences.
  • Influencing and persuading skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Experience handling large data sets and data interpretation.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions independently or collaboratively.
  • Membership of CIWEN or similar is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on a water company WRMP assessments.
  • Provide timely assessment of Statutory WRMPs and drought plans.
  • Advise Defra on water company compliance.
  • Develop relationships with national stakeholders and EA departments.
  • Support incident response and business continuity.
