Job summary

South East Water is seeking a communications professional to lead statutory consultations and deliver engaging public communications for the Water Resources Management Plan and Drought Plan.

You will translate complex technical information for diverse audiences, manage events and media activity, and coordinate with internal teams and regional partners to support the company’s water resources objectives.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in a Communications, PR discipline and/or at least three years’ relevant experience.
• Background in an environmental science discipline would be advantageous.
• Full driving licence.
• Able to pivot between multiple projects to produce high-quality outputs by deadline.
• Keen eye for detail; able to draft customer and stakeholder communications materials for projects or events.

Responsibilities

• Creating and implementing an integrated communications strategy to support Drought Plan and Water Resources Management Plan objectives.
• Translating technical information into engaging content for internal and external audiences.
• Produce Non-Technical summaries for consultations.
• Devising and delivering statutory public consultations.
• Managing events, media activity, and supplier coordination.
• Organising workshops and stakeholder meetings outside office hours as needed.
• Developing communications collateral such as briefings, press releases, presentations, and social media content.
• Co-ordinate with internal stakeholders on priorities and messages.
• Representing the business with Water Resources South East and regional partners.
• Brief media spokespeople and handle media inquiries.
• Update website and social media with news stories and during incidents.
• Participate in out-of-hours crisis communications service.
