Severn Trent is hiring a Laboratory Scientist on a 12-month fixed-term contract in Bridgend. The role runs 37 hours weekly: Mon-Thu 9am–5pm, Fri 9am–4:30pm, with chemistry analysis of drinking water and samples from treatment works to deliver DWI commitments.

You’ll ensure testing follows correct procedures, interpret analytical data, escalate non-conforming work, and support training while maintaining ISO17025 and QMS standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Water Quality testing procedures and standards.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting, checking, and reporting analytical data and analytical quality controls in accordance with QMS requirements.
• Understanding laboratory processes to identify and interpret atypical results or scenarios.
• Rapid escalation and completion of non-conforming work investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Assisting with training, coaching, and mentoring of colleagues.
• Maintaining DWI and ISO 17025 competency requirements through external proficiency testing, CPD, data reporting, and audits.
