This role will see you travelling across the picturesque Wessex Water region, especially around Bath, Chippenham, Devizes, and Warminster areas. A company vehicle and all tools needed to carry out the role are provided.

What you'll do

We schedule and carry out the regulatory sampling programme for the water and sewerage services.

In addition, we provide sampling and analytical services to a range of customers including businesses, local authorities, drinking water providers, and environmental consultants.

This multifunctional role involves regulatory water and cryptosporidium sampling, along with various survey work, all of which comply with UKAS accreditation standards. The role offers a great opportunity to learn and develop your career in this exciting and challenging industry.

Your main duties will include taking representative water quality samples from a variety of sources, including treatment works, reservoirs, and customer properties across your local area, dealing with any complaints professionally and efficiently, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations while providing high-quality service to our customers.

You will be required to work a rota that involves some bank holidays, one weekend in four, and some standby duties.

What you'll need

You will:

  • Have a positive and flexible approach to supporting team colleagues and enjoy the challenge of working outdoors while prioritising and managing your own dynamic workload.
  • Have good organisational skills.
  • Have good attention to detail and be comfortable applying a range of sampling procedures.
  • Ideally possess A levels in English, maths, and science (or equivalent) as a minimum.
  • Be computer literate with Word and Excel, and comfortable working with multiple phone applications including Outlook, GIS apps, and SharePoint.

A full, clean manual driving licence is essential, and due to the nature of the work, you should be located close to the area where the role is based.

What you'll receive
  • A combined total pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary, subject to conditions.
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone to work for us.
